Black Mountain
A private family retreat on 165 acres above the Russian River

This 2,000 square foot retreat was completed in
2001. The two story structure has cedar siding, and a standing-seam metal roof built over highly insulated structural roof panels, supported by site-built custom roof trusses.
The main great room is surrounded by 1,200 sf of covered breezeway and verandas bearing on concrete columns. Sixteen-inch square Spanish terra cotta pavers cover the radiant heated main living space floor.
A cast-in-place concrete BBQ with a copper hood stands opposite the kitchen under the breezeway.
The structure was framed with FSC Certified lumber and the custom doors and windows were hand crafted in Washington from sustainably harvested Douglas Fir. Countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms are cast-in-place concrete and butcher block.
